Our garments are vintage items and can vary from the standardised clothing sizes of today. Our garment measurements are taken in centimetres with the item laid flat to make sure that when they reach you, they fit you like a charm!

Standardised measurements of clothing have altered over the years. Please don't be put off by the sizing label on vintage garments; this will most likely be completely different to today's sizing and the item could still be the perfect fit!

A – Waist - Measured from the narrowest part of the waist.

B - Hip - Measured the fullest part of the hips.

C – Inseam - Measured from the top of the inside leg to the hem.

D - Length - Measured from the highest point of the garment to the hem.

E - Chest - Measured from armpit to armpit across the front of the garment.

F - Sleeve - Measured from collar to cuff.

G - Sock - Measured from the heel to the tip of your toe.

H - Necklace – Measured from clasp to the end connector.

I - Belt - Measured from buckle to the furthest point the belt can comfortably do up.

J – Glove – Measured at widest part of your Hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb.

K – Hat- This is the measurement taken inside the hat for fit.

L - Crotch depth – Measured from waistline to the bottom of the crotch.

We suggest you measure yourself to find out your size:

Chest/bust: Wrap the tape around the widest part of your chest/bust. This is usually just under the armpit.

Alternatively, find a top that you own which has a fit you like. Lay it flat and measure straight across just under the armpit. Double this amount to get the full measurement. If the garment you want to buy has the same measurement, it will fit you in a similar way.

Waist: Wrap the tape around your body at the point at which you normally wear your jeans or trousers. The garment you want to buy should have the same waist measurement.

Alternatively, find a garment you own which fits you well. Lay it flat and measure straight across the top. Double this amount to get the full waist measurement. The garment you want to buy should have the same waist measurement.

At Think2 we offer a second life to clothes. We encourage selective and conscious shopping, and with that comes a more considerate washing and care routine. For you to use your clothes to the fullest extent, there are some guides on how to take care of them.

Washing your forever pieces

Always read the care label and follow the washing instructions when available.

Always check for loose seams, holes or frays before washing to avoid damaging the garment further.

Always hand wash or dry clean True Vintage garments pre 1960s as they are non machine washable. If the fabric is very old or delicate, good airing can often remove odor without damaging the garment.

Always hand wash or dry clean silk, wool, velvet and any garment with beading.

Always air dry your garments when possible because some can shrink in the dryer.

Less is more. Repeated vigorous washing damages the fibers of clothing, wears down your garment and has a negative impact on the environment. ¼ of the carbon footprint from the garment industry is from consumers washing and drying their clothes.

Wash at 30 degrees where possible, use gentle cycles or lightly hand-wash - all these options are always better for the lifespan of vintage clothing.

Storing your forever pieces

Keep your True Vintage clothes in a dry, dust-free place away from direct sunlight. Humidity or damp will damage delicate fibers, and sunlight can irreversibly fade vintage prints and colors.

Always use wooden or padded hangers as metal hangers can leave rust stains on your clothes and create stretch marks that are very hard to get rid of or worse, they can even cause rips over time.

Always fold fragile silks, knits and beaded items carefully instead of hanging them.

Do not store True Vintage garments in plastic bags or plastic storage containers as the fabric needs to breathe.

Maintaining Your forever pieces

Repair! Make sure to inspect your garments and repair small rips and imperfections before they cause bigger problems.

Lube your zipper. Old metal zippers should be carefully lubed with graphite pencil, vaseline or zipper lube to keep them gliding smoothly through your clothing.

Thoughtful product life cycle

Because we encourage selective and thoughtful shopping, we hope that your chosen garments will serve you a really long time. But if you feel like the piece no longer fits you or your style we suggest more sustainable options that keep the garment life cycle running:

Re-design or up-cycle – there are so many ways to up-cycle clothes in order to update them and bring them back to life a third or 10th time :). Tune into your creativity and look for inspiration online or get inspired by other vintage pieces. What went out of style will come back with full force after 10-15 years because of fashion cycles.

Swap with friends – this can be a fun and creative activity that promotes sustainable and conscious shopping. You can find your forever piece in someone else’s pile of unwanted clothes. We tend to get tired of some garments and can no longer see their potential but someone else definitely will!

Sell – if you choose to re-sell, use websites that promote circular mindset and try to find a new home for your pieces.

Donate - give your clothing to charity shops and recycling organizations, where they can either find another life as a piece, or be recycled into something new. Either way, it's saved from landfill.
